Journal Hafner, M.S. 1976 Las Cruces, Dona Ana Co., 3896 ft., New Mexico. 1-2 August John Hafner and I departed Richmond at 1715 last evening (in a U.C. Datsun pick-up) and drove via Bakersfield, Kingman, Flagstaff etc. to Albuquerque, New Mexico. We filled-up the liquid nitrogen container in Albuquerque at 1500 (Central Time) then visited Dave and Diane Hafner. Mom and Dad were in Albuquerque for a short visit before returning [illegible] to the Bay Area, so we visited for about ½ hour before we hit the road south to meet Jim and Carol Patton in Las Cruces. 2000 Met the Patton's at the Hwy 70-80 bridge and checked into a local motel. ($13.50 for the room). Ate dinner at a local Mexican place before retiring at ~2230. Weather not too hot. Very humid - occasional afternoon thunder showers. ½ moon during the 1st part of the night - no traps set this evening. Rio Grande, .08 mi. S Radium Springs, Dona Ana Co., New Mexico. 3 August 0800 John and I stretched some wire for skinning then met Jim and Carol for breakfast. We later drove to a market.
