We continued north to the Pixley locality; Results:
5 D. nitratoides (3 ad., 2 juv.)
Drove up Rd 88 and then N. and E to the locality
NE of Angiola. Results:
1 D. heermanni
Continued N and W by Hwy's 43 and 41 to the
locality S and W of Lemoore. Results:
1 D. nitratoides
At this last locality we caught a 60 mm. long
horned lizard - large for the Valley, I believe. We
also had 4 traps stolen.
We proceed on to Fresno where I examined Walt
Hoffmann's thesis on D. nitratoides (at Fresno
State University).
1300 Departed Fresno via Highs 99, 152 and I-5 to
Pleasant Hill, California.

1600 John and I drove to the edge of the
"Caprock" east of town and set 50 live traps
in small revines. General Mesquite scrub association
Artemisia, Stipa?, Poa?, some cacti (Opuntia, Mammelea?)
some Yucca. Very grassy in revine bottoms; very
sparse grass on exposed hillsides. Rocky soil
with occasional areas of fine sand in revine bottoms.
Calm night - cloudy ~ 60° F low.
