1300 we departed area for home. Dense, threatening clouds cloud ) no rain until Livermore. Successful trip.

Carrizo Plain, San Luis Obispo Co., 2000 ft., California
Ken Raney, Barron and I departed Richmond 0930.
Drove via Oakland, Livermore and Hwy 5 to the Lost Hills turn-off. Drove S from Lost Hills then S on Hwy 33 to Hwy 58 West. Continued over the Temblor Range to Carrizo Plain. Windy day. Clear. ~60°F.
1400-set out 60 live traps in a small patch of Cetriplex caespescens between the fork in the road just as Hwy 58 enters the Carrizo Plain. Turned SW on dirt road heading toward the dry lake (Soda Lake). Set 60 traps on the N side of the road near its junction with the main N-S road running the length of the valley (see map). Found the cranium (crushed) of a kit-Fox (Vulpes) on this E-W road about midway across the valley.
