(see above for habitat description) 6 D. heermanii 3 D. nitratoides 2 A. nelsoni (1 dead) 3 P. maniculatus I drove back to Taft and picked-up Darcy and Emily. We ate breakfast in Taft (very nice) and then drove via Hwy 119 and Elk Hills road, through Buttonwillow to the next set. Results: 3.8 mi. W Buttonwillow, Kern Co., California, 300 ft. Habitat: Dense A. canescens, very few Suaeda, patchy grass; fine, packed sandy soil. 1 D. nitratoides 1 D. heermanii (dead) 1 A. nelsoni 3 White-Crowned Sparrows (Zonotrichia) We drove through Buttonwillow to the final set. 4.6 mi. E Buttonwillow, 250 ft. Kern Co., California Habitat: Very patchy, but dense clumps of A. lentiformis and A. canescens. Many dried-up pools, little grass. big large areas of hard,
