journal Hafner, M.S. 1976 April (cont) 0.8 mi. N, 6 mi. W Lost Hills, 500 ft., Kern Co., California edge - no suitable habitat was seen. We turned around and continued S on Curcoran Road to a point south of the Refuge (0.2 mi. E, 2.5 mi. N Lost Hills, 200 ft., Kern Co.) where we set 60 traps in a patch of Salicornia just W of the thing. We then continued S and W through Lost Hills to a point 1.0 mi. W Lost Hills where we again set out 60 traps just S of the road. From here we continued W on Hwy 46 then N on a dirt road to a point 0.8 mi. N, 6 mi. W Lost Hills where we made camp. 1830: I set out 60 more traps making a total tonight of 300 traps. We pitched the tent, ate and go drank coffee until about 2100. Emily slept in her "port-a-crib" in the tent. (We slept in blankets, as I forgot the sleeping bags!) 2200 The wind picked-up and blew from the West all night. - Not too cold (~45°F) Emily awoke us 0530 the next morning.
