Walker Springs, 6000 ft., Nye Co., Nevada 3 March Results: (crit) 5 P. maniculatus 2 D. ordii (crit) Snap traps: 2 M. megacephalus 3 P. longimembriis 8 P. maniculatus 1 R. megalotis Success: 35/603 = 5.8% Micro's = 8/603 = 1.3% The association of M.m. with Artemisia tridentata and M.p. with Chryso-Tetradymia was very striking. 0900 we took vegetation density measures at localities where M.p. and Mm. were captured and sampled the plants. 1000 drove into Warm Springs and had breakfast, 1030 departed for home. Dave and Diane headed E on Hwy 25, I headed S on Hwy 6. Overcast at times, windy, occasional snow flurries. Saw road-killed Kit Fox (Vulpes) about 5 mi. N of Walker Lake on Hwy alt. 95. 1500 called Darcy from Fernley. 1830 arrived Richmond. Total traps for trip = 2769 Total rodent success = 154/2769 = 5.6% Microdiplops success = 42/2509 = 1.5% (at Lake) Total Micro. success: 47/2769 = 1.7% Miles = 1300 Gas $ = $42.68.
