Rain was short lived, but overcast continued so we departed camp to check trap. Very cold and overcast.
Results: 7 M. pallidus (1 returned live to JCH)
7 ♀ M. megacephalus
8 D. microps
1 P. longimembris
1 P. maniculatus
1 Onychomys sp.
Success: 23/756 = 3.0% Micro's = 12/756 = 1.6%
Diane departed for Ash Springs to get more fuel for their truck. Dave and I checked gopher sets:
2 Thomomys bottae (live).
Dave and I skinned (skel. only) animals captured today until about 1100 when Diane returned. We transferred all Micro. tissue (from last year) into proper tubes and put them in liquid Nitrogen.
1130 departed locality, headed west on Hwy 25 via and Hwy 6 Warm Springs to a locality 10 mi. E., 15 mi. N Warm Springs,
6000 ft. Nye Co., Nevada . It was snowing in areas near us and light snows fell on us as we approached Sandy Summit (6037 ft.). 1500 we set out 2 gopher sets in sandy was about 100 m. S of roads. Made camp near Highway 6. The habitat was heterogeneous with mostly dominant Artemista tridentata and space Chrysothamnus
