Journal Hager, M.S. 1976 1.5 mi. N Chilcot, 5000 ft., Plumas Co., California Turned north on road to Frenchman Lake and drove 1.5 mi. to a locality of loose, fine, wind-blown sand to the immediate E of the road. Set 70 live traps in mixed Artemisia tridentata and Chrysothamnus. (Artemisia approx. 1.3 M tall = fairly dense vegetation). Much evidence of Heteromyid activity. Barron did it then went further up the road toward Frenchman Lake - I had planned to camp in the wooded area about 6 mi N of Chilcot. We walked around for awhile in the conifer forest, then drove back to Hwy 70 and turned West toward Vinton. 1600-1700 hunted in the rocky slopes NE of the Vinton Cemetery (for Sylvilagus) - got none - saw 2). 1530 returned to camp on a side road about 1 mi. N. Chilcot. 1900 - cold, windy evening. clear. Slept out. March 1.5 mi. N. Chilcot 5120 5000 ft., Plumas Co., California 0500 awoke cold. Drove to check traps. Results: 5120 1.5 mi.
