Hepner ms. 1973 Journal 2 Nov. (Cont) "Campsite I", 9.5 mi. N of Johannesburg (cont) windy and cold night. David and Diane had set 60 Sherman type traps in dune area South-west of Trona. 3 Nov. "Campsite I", 7mi. N of Johannesburg, Trona Johannesburg Rd, San Bernardino Co, 3200' Calif. 6:00 AM - Checked traps - do to general disorganization of trap checking (Oxy students helped) and very windy, cold weather, accurate results were not recorded. David caught a total of 5 Dipodomys deserti in two nights trapping (60 x 2 trap nights). No other catches in dunes SW of Trona. The traps near Campsite I caught mainly Perognathus longimembris and a couple D. merriami, D. panamintinus, and Perognathus formosus. Approx. 20%. Trapping success possibly lower than trapping success of Oct 73 due to high winds. 9:00 AM - Went to dunes area and showed class the different habitats found on the desert. David was
