on rocky hillside 0.5 mi. SE of Sagelen station.
(Arctostaphylos dominates with occasional stands of pine) Noted Cougars hawk flying through pines just N. of the Sagelen Creek road. Sightings of several chipmunks (E. anserinus) and squirrels (C. lateralis and Tamiasciurus douglasii) in rocks adjacent to road. Weather clear - few cirrus clouds - very light NWly breeze.
2100 set out 1 Tommohawk live trap in pine stand 0.3 mi. NW of the station. All gopher traps set today were set near camp and adjacent to the creek. Cold night (~29-35°F). Still, clear, Full moon.

0700 arose and checked traps with following results:
snap traps:
2 Peromyscus maniculatus
1 Microstus montanus
gopher traps:
3 Thomomys monticola
P. maniculatus were captured on rocky hillside.
