Journal Hofner, m.s. 1975 400 ft. 26 mi. W. and 14 mi. North Lovelock, Pershing Co., Nevada about 10 feet high. (3 noms). We returned to the road and continued driving NW NW into the Seven Troughs Range. Although the road signs pointed toward Vernon , we could not locate the town. As we drove into the Seven Troughs Range the car was becoming very overheated. We were forced to turn around and coast down the hill, hoping to find water at an old well we had passed. Of course the well was empty although the windmill was still turning. We let the car cool down then attempted the climb again. The car was again extremely overheated but we finally reached the summit and the car cooled as we went down the west slope of the range. We passed a very nice ranch house to the immediate W. of the road. (The Ranch had a very large pond beside it.) We drove to floor of the valley and turned S on a road leading toward the large dry lake (between the Seven Troughs Range and the Schwartz Mountains). We could only go about 1 mile down the road before the rocks and overheating car forced us to stop. We set up camp and explored the area. A very small dry lake bed
