Journal Hofner, m.s. 1975 Various locales around Pyramid lake, Washoe Co., Nevada. 4 September [cut] The Prairie Falcon disappeared in the rocky cliffs to the west of the road. We proceeded south and stopped at the historical marker indicating where the Pyramid Lake Battles had occured in 1860. We drove into Wadsworth and stopped to look at indian artifacts and antiques. Got fuel in Fernley, Nevada and drove from there via Hwy 80 to Lovelock, Nevada. Bought beer in Lovelock, noted the post office where we will meet JCH and DJH tomorrow, and proceeded west from Lovelock towards "F-Troughs" and Vernon. Very warm day. Drove out the road to Eagle Picker Mine, but found no suitable habitat for trapping. Returned to main road and continued through the Trinity Range to the Vernon cutoff (all dirt and gravel roads). Road paved as far as Eagle Picker Mine turnoff. Drove through a wide valley and stopped at an old, broken-down adobe house to the S. of the road. The car was getting overheated at this point so we stopped and looked at the ruins. The house was about 20 X 20 feet and
