Various locales around Pyramid Lake, Washoe Co.,
Nevada
September
We proceeded north to the next locality:
(unt)
9.4 mi. N (by road) of Sutcliffe, Washoe Co., Nevada
Results: 4 D. panamintinus
3 D. ordii
Habitat of fine sandy soil, occasionally packed.
Approximately 0.2 mi. from lake shore. Sparse
Sarcobatus. Drive north to last locality:
13.6 mi. (by road) N. Sutcliffe, Washoe Co., Nevada
Results: 4 D. panamintinus
4 D. merriami
1 Spolefoot toad (Scaphiopus)
Habitat was fine sand with occasional packed
areas. Artemisia and Sarcobatus moderately
dense in places. Approximately, 0.5 mi. from
lake.
As the purpose of this trip was to
catch microdipods, we were rather disappointed.
We did catch the one specimen north of
Nixon. We released all animals except the
micro., Ammo., and toad. We drove south
towards Sutcliffe after eating a little
breakfast at the last locality.
10:00 sighted a Prairie Falcon approximately
9 mi. N. Sutcliffe circling over the road.
