Journal Nefen, N.S. 1976 Various locales around Pyramid Lake, Washoe Co, Nevada. 4 September (cont) There were occasional open spaces lacking any vegetation. Many signs of Dipodonyx. Exact locality: 12.7 mi. N. Nixon, 0.5 mi. E of Hwy 34, Washoe Co., Nevada. Results: < Dipodonyx merriami 1 D. panamintinus 2 P. maniculatus (1 juv.) We proceeded from here to the next locality: 8.6 mi. (by road) N. Nixon, Washoe Co., Nevada. Results: 1 D. ordii 1 Microdipodops sp. 1 Ammospermophilus leucurus The habitat at this locality was fine wind-blown sand on a gently sloping hillside. Mostly Atriplex. Sparsely vegetated. We drove through Nixon to the next locality: 5.4 mi. (by road) West of Nixon, Washoe Co., Nevada. Results: no gophers (one trap buried) 3 D. panamintinus 5 D. ordii Habitat was loose with occasionally packed sand. Widely spaced (Sarcobatus)? near shore of lake.
