Journal Dafon, M.S. 1975 Various locales through Walker Pass, Kern Co., California 27 April Results: (cont) (cont) Spermophilus beechii (juv.) Ammospermophilus leucurus Success: 24/100 = 24% I brought back all D. peninsularis for lab work [and 20 Perognathus maniculatus] [We noted many Dipylon (Thomsons) diggings at every locality] 1000 - We drove to Mojave and had breakfast. David left Mojave at 1130 - and we headed for L.A. Eden. Various locales, N.E. & N.W. Mojave Desert, California 31 April I left L.A. 0645 and drove to each of the 7 localities (for my master's project). I measured soil compactness and soil color. Arrived back in Los Angeles 1730. 17 August Various localities, Corral Hollow Rd., [7 mi. S., 1 mi. W. Tracy, San Joaquin Co., California] 5-8° 1000 Arrived this locality with Brothers John and David Haynes and Ken Ramsey. Hiked perhaps [not?] ? southeast of main road to [Long-tree Creek]. noted many signs of Dipodonyx and Perognathus burrows on sparsely vegetated hilltops along the way. Warm, windy day.
