1400 - Dacey, Baron and I left Los Angeles
and arrived this locality ~ 1730 - We almost
got stuck in wet sand on the dirt road
heading S. from the Barlock area. Found
2 Tortoises (Gopherus), both sub.ad. size.
[I brought these back to the lab for urine
analysis by S. Chaplin.] Tortoises were about
.25 mi. apart, by dirt road ~ 2 mi. S of Barlock
highway. (very near edge of Koehn Dry Lake).
1730 - We set out ~160 traps in 4 directions
from camp. Found an adult Tortoise near
camp. Measurements of Tortoises as follows:
