journal Hufner, m.s. 1975 30 mi. N. Mojave, Kern Co., 3100 ft., California 13 April (cont) We finished setting traps ~1900. There was a slight breeze and it began to cool off as the sun set. We ate hot-dogs and had some beer then crashed about 10 PM. Windy all night - not especially cold (~40°F). 14 April 3.0 mi. N. Mojave, Kern Co., 3100 ft., California 0645 - awoke and checked traps with following results: 35 Dipodomys merriami 7 D. panamintensis 22 Perognathus longimembris 4 Neotoma lepida 1 Ammospermophilus leucurus 6 Onychomys torridus 19 Peromyscus maniculatus Success = 94/170 ÷ 55% The morning was cool and somewhat windy. We released the Peromyscus and Neotoma and returned all the [illegible] heteromijids to the lab for study. I brought back the Onychomys to send to Dr. Baker at Texas Tech. (Upon return to the lab, 1 PM, I had given birth to 2 young.) 0900, headed for Los Angeles.
