Journal Hefner, m.s. 1975 2.6 mi. S, 6.3 mi. West Bentsburg Kern Co. 2900' Californi 9 April 0640 - arose and checked traps. Sky clear, light breeze, ~ 45° F. Results: 9 Perognathus formosus 6 Perognathus longimembris 11 Dipodomys merriami Success = 26/200 = 13% A Ratt Fox had apparently raided nearly all of the wooden traps and removed their contents; (so these traps will not be considered in my data analysis for rodent density). Many droppings were found atop several box-traps. 0900 - We gathered all gear and left for L.A. Sunny morning, still clear. We brought all specimens to the lab for study 3.0 mi. N. Mojave, Kern Co. 3100 ft. Californi 13 April 1630 Howard McDerry and I (and Baron) finally left L.A. and arrived this locality 1800. Purpose of trip is to increase sample size from this locality.
