17 mi S 5 mi E Yerington, Lyon Co. 5000', Nevada
return to town later in the morning. We
then drove to the trapping locality.
Results: 1 Thomomys bottae
1 Dipodomys ordii
2 D. merriani
4/400 = 1% success
(most traps were 1/2 full of snow)
We picked-up only the 100 traps from
the west side of the road (poor habitat)
and re-set remaining traps.
11:00 - drove N on Alt Hwy 95 after getting
new battery in Yerington. S of Fernley,
Nevada noted kit fox cross road. At
Wadsworth Nevada took Hwy 34 North and
drove to 7.5 mi. (by road) N. Nixon, Washoe Co.,
Nevada where we set 100 traps on a
sloping sand dune habitat. Sparse
vegetation. We then returned to Nixon and
took Hwy 33 west to locality 5 mi. SW.
Sutcliffe, Washoe Co. Nevada. At this
locality we set the remaining 100 traps S.
of the Highway in a sandy, Artemisia
tidentata community. Soil was somewhat
moist and wet in areas. Drove back thru
Wadsworth and got a motel room in
