Journal Nefner, M.S. 1975 31 mi. N.W. Hiko, near dry lake, Lincoln Co. Nev. 24 March [cont.] compacted soil with low vegetation. The soil became finer and looser as we neared the dry lake. The vegetation was progressively fuller nearer to the dry lake. Set 1 set of 2 gopher traps approximately .2 mi. N D Hwy 25 on dirt road. 1930 - returned to Hwy 25 and drove to a point W. of Queen City Summit, took dirt road N about .5 mi. and camped amidst rocks. Heavy cloud cover, full moon, windy (SE) and cold. 25 March 31 mi. N.W. Hiko, near dry lake, Lincoln Co., Nevada 0730 awoke to a light sprinkle of rain. Drove to dry lake to check traps. Caught nothing in Gopher traps. Results: 32 Microdipodops sp. 4 Peromyscus maniculatus 2 Perognathus longimembris 1 Dipodomys ordii 1 Dipodomys microps 4 Onychomys (torridus) Success = 44/600 = 7% John noted the soil type, vegetation
