Journal Hegner, M.S. 1975 21 March [cut] Vicinity of 25 mi. SW Dagway, Tooele Co., Utah ridge of brush-covered sand dunes. The dominant plants appeared to be Chrysanthemum sp. and Atriplex sp. - 22 March Vicinity of 25 mi SW Dagway, Tooele Co Utah Woke up ~0530 to a blizzard of heavy snowfall driven by a strong wind (NW). Tent was mostly covered and ~4 in. had fallen. We broke camp, picked up as much gear as we could and tried to drive to safety. We couldn't get out of the valley in East or West directions so we returned to camp area (Sun was now up) in an attempt to retrieve our traps. The traps were buried in snow drifts up to 18" so it took hours to find them all. (we lost ~20 traps). Trapping Results: 26 Dipodomys ordii 1 Perognathus maniculatus 27/200 = 13.5% Success The D. ordii were fairly heavily parasitized with ticks. 1000 - Sky mostly clear now. We drove via Dagway to Utah Hwy 36. Along Hwy 36 we sighted several Ammospermophylus, a few
