Albuquerque, Bernalillo Co., New Mexico.
I left L.A. [with the school van] at 0300 this morning and drove East with good weather and (light) good traffic—arrived Albuquerque 1700 Rocky Mt. time. I took 3 Ammospermophilus l. levineus to Dave (alive) so we went to U.N.M. and put them in cages. We just relaxed all evening. John will meet us here tomorrow and we head N.West on Friday.

0800, arose and wrote-up field notes. We then went up to U.N.M. Sat in on a lower division Bio lecture by Dr. Aldenbach, had lunch the went to a Grad. Student seminar with Dave and Diane. Dr. James Findley was the coordinator of the group (~8 students) and we had an interesting discussion of general mammal biogeography and particularly the zoogeography of the Histricomorph – Caviomorph groups. Diane & I looked over the campus while Dave instructed a lab group of freshmen bio majors.
