California 26 January (crnt) Live trap results: 1 Perognathus longimembris 1 Ammospermophilus leucurus 1 Dipodomys merriami ♂ testis scrotal 37 gm. Success = 3/194 = 2% Snap traps = 1/100 = 1% [Onychomys torridus ♀] I dug up the burrow system of the Kangaroo Rat [see following page]; I found a large scorpion [50 mm] in the burrow system. The Perognathus was an interesting catch this time of year. 0900 We drove to Tehachapi Pass and checked traps: Sand Canyon, 0.4 mi. N S Hwy. 58, 2.9 mi E x S S Monolith, Kern Co. California 3949 ft. [32S, E34E, NW1/4sec27] Results: 16 Dipodomys penicillatus [7 ♂♂, 9♀♀] 6 Peromyscus maniculatus Success: 22/100 = 22% I noticed one Reithrodontomys megalotis beneath an old log in the same field.
