Journal Kofner, M.S. 1975 2 mi. E of Searles Station, 4 mi NNE Johannesburg San Bernardino Co., California, 3200 ft. "Camp 1" 25 January [cont] [cont] trapping results: snapped { 1 Neotoma lepida 1 Onychomys torridus 1 Ammosphephilus leucurus Success! 18/294 = 6% 1030-We collected traps and drove to Tehachapi [Sand Canyon] where we set 100 live traps. We then gassed-up in Mojave and drove to Boron locality. 1330 - Very warm at Boron locality - we walked around then set the remaining traps (194) we chose a trapping locality with more hareea divaricata - since it appears that D. merriami prefer these shrubs [under which to build nests]. The evening was cool and clear. A wind blew most of the night [-25 mph] 26 January 7.5 mi. E. of Boron, San Bernardino Co., 2500 ft. California. 0720 awoke and checked traps at this locality. The wind had died down. The temp. was ~50° F. The snap traps caught nothing 1 Onychomys torridus f nothing <--- We had better luck with live traps.
