Journal Hafner, M.S. 1974 19 October (cont) 11.8 mi. E. Boron, San Bernardino Co., 2500ft. California D = Ad ♂ (live) - Very round shell (not angular) smooth centers on all dorsal plates. Small bump on hind dorsum; small flares over hind legs. In general, much variation in shell shape and texture is noted above. 1600- We began to set ≈ 197 traps about 100-200 meters West of last night's trapping site. One line of 50 traps entered a sparse Larrea community, another approached the wash and entered an area of more lush vegetation (These two lines caught the great majority of the animals). While setting traps, we noted a small sidewinder (Crotalus cerastes) approximately 150 mm long, and a moderate sized horned lizard (Phrynosoma) We flushed out a large Jackrabbit (Lepus californicus). The sun set approximately 1830. Sky clear. 20 October 11.8 mi. E. Boron, San Bernardino Co., 2500ft. California We arose and checked traps ~0700. with following Results:
