D = Ad ♂ (live) - Very round shell (not angular) smooth centers on all dorsal plates. Small bump on hind dorsum;
small flares over hind legs.
In general, much variation in
shell shape and texture is noted above.
1600- We began to set ≈ 197 traps
about 100-200 meters West of last night's
trapping site. One line of 50 traps entered
a sparse Larrea community, another
approached the wash and entered an
area of more lush vegetation (These
two lines caught the great majority of
the animals). While setting traps, we
noted a small sidewinder (Crotalus
cerastes) approximately 150 mm long, and
a moderate sized horned lizard (Phrynosoma)
We flushed out a large Jackrabbit (Lepus
californicus). The sun set approximately
1830. Sky clear.
