Journal Hafner, M.S. 1974 19 October (cont) 11.8 mi. E. Boron, San Bernardino Co. 2500 ft. California Results (cont): 10 Dipodomys merriami ♀♀, ♂♂ 1 Perognathus formosus 1 Tarantula. Success = 11/207 ≈ 5% As expected, (and hoped) we caught no D. panamitinus and these samples of D. merriami can be used for my allopatric sample. Paul and Casey left after breakfast and Darcy & I walked along the dry creek bed about 1 km. south of camp. This is apparently just a seasonal wash surrounded by more lush vegetation (and perhaps D. panamitinus?) We noted, again, evidence of the Fox on almost all traps (droppings or urine). We found 2 live tortoises (extremely large) and 2 dead empty tortoise shells. Measurements were taken on all specimens. (See below.) 1000 we drove into "Four-Corners" and got ice for our ice-chest.
