Hefner m.s 1974 Journal 12 October (cont) 11B mi. E Boron, San Bernardino Co., 2500ft California During trap checking we noticed various parts of an old tortoise shell, several (tortoise?) holes near the base of Atriplex bushes and a few small annuals beginning to sprout (~7mm. tall) The kit fox had apparently disturbed several traps (we found the traps in shallow holes where the (fox?) had attempted to get into them). There we feces (fox?) inside one of the large boxes used to carry the non- folding traps and also feces and murky liquid on top of a few traps. The feces contained rodent skull fragments. 0900 - We broke camp and headed for L.A. We later drove to San Diego to visit Dacey's relatives.
