Various locales NE of Johannesburg,
San Bernardino Co, California, 3200 ft.
"Camp 1 and 2"
Coyote (canis) crossed the road immediately
ahead of me about 2 miles NE of
Johannesburg along Trona Rd. I pulled
to the side of the road and stopped.
The coyote stopped also about 50 meters
west of the road and watched me.
We looked at each other for a while
and he eventually loped off. This
was approximately 0830 and the sun
was quite high by now.
When I returned to camp, Darcy
had checked the remaining 106 traps
with the following results:
2 mi. E. Searles Station, 9 mi. NNE of
Johannesburg, San Bernardino Co,
California, 3200 ft. "Camp 1"
8 Dipodomys panamintius
6 Dipodomys merriami
1 Perognathus longimembris
2 Perognathus formosus
1 Peromyscus maniculatus
Success = 18/106 = 17%
