3200 ft. "Camp 1 and 2"
Younger fellows were rather cold and
showed distrust of me. I told the old
man that I was trapping "rats" and
he suggested I set some around his
place to rid him of "them darn pack rats".
One of the younger guys said that they
had recently shot one of their dogs
which was rabid (Possibly Plague?)
I checked traps with following results:
5.5 mi. ENE Johannesburg, San Bernardino

1 Neotoma lepida
12 Perognathus formosus
4 Dipodomys merriami
2 Dipodomys panamintinus
Success = 19/100 = 19%
Since I captured some D. panamintinus
here, I cannot consider this a
D. merriami allopatric area so I didn't
keep any of the animals. I drove
back to Camp 1 noting an adult
