Hofner, ms. 1974 Journal 31 August (cont.) 9.5 mi. N. Johannesburg, 200 m. E of Trona Rd, San Bernardino Co., 3200' Caly 1600 - We walked through the low hills 2 W of camp to the locality where we had previously observed gopher diggings (shown to us by David Hofner). We set 4 live traps of the "McNeil" type down gopher holes which showed recent digging. We later returned to camp and set out: 1) 100 live traps to be checked hourly through the night. 2) The remaining 74 live traps to be checked once in the morning and 3) 90 Snap-traps to collect a monthly sample for David I. Hofner and Diane Hofner. I checked the traps throughout the night. There was a full moon the entire night and the wind was approximately 1 MPH with gusts to 3-4 MPH the entire night.
