0900 We drove into Johannesburg to replenish ice supply, and then drove to "Camp 1" (see below for exact locality). We camped about 200 meters from the main road, approx. 1/2 mile South of the rocky knoll which lies to the SE of the road:

The day was very warm (and we napped for awhile to stay out of the heat) We camped beneath a large Joshua, (Yucca brevifolia), which contained what appeared to be a woodpecker's nest. (This should be looked into in the spring.)
