Hafner, m.s. 1974 Journal 17 July (Con't) Sand Canyon, 0.4 mi. N. of Hwy 58, 2.9 mi. EXS of Monolith, Kern Co., California 39'41" (T32S, R34E, NW¼ sec 27) In both trapping localities we concentrated traps in areas of green vegetation (dominant shrubs). Many Dipodomys burrows were seen. The evening grew cool and the night was cold and a light breeze blew. 18 July Sand Canyon, 0.4 mi. N. of Hwy 58, 2.9 mi. EXS of Monolith, Kern Co., California 39'41" (T32S R34E, NW¼ sec 27). 0430 arose early so that we could get Darcy to work on time. Checked traps with following results: Loc. (E) - (South of Hwy 58): 3 Reithrodontomys megalotis 3.5 Peromyscus maniculatus 14 Dipodomys (sp.) 5-toed 7 ♂ Success: 52/93 = 56 % Loc (G) - (North of Hwy 58). 33 Peromyscus maniculatus 37 Dipodomys (sp.) 5-toes 13 ♀ Success: 70/97 = 72 %
