(by road) ESE of Edison, Kern Co., California 760'
(T30S, R30E, SW 1/4 sec 17)
We saw many cottontails (Sylvilagus auduboni)
in nearby hills along with several Hares
(Lepus californicus) and numerous Burrowing
owes (Speotyto). The Ground Beetles (Tenebri-
idae) were very thick.
At approx. 8:30 (2030) a rancher advised
us to go to another canyon to spend
the night. We found this canyon very
nice and spent a comfortable night.
Saw numerous unidentified small bats
foraging after dark.
