Trapping Success:
1st locality: 34/74 = 45.9%
(3.8 mi. N. Mojave)
2nd locality: 8/71 = 11.3%
(6 mi. NNW Mojave)
We used the remainder of the day to
look at the Tehachapi Pass from Mojave
to Tehachapi in connection with our
D. hermanni - D. panamintinus project.
We ate lunch at a park in Mojave
during the hot afternoon (95 F.) We
set traps at two new localities in sandy
washes of the Cache Creek:

1st locality - approx. 2.5 mi. E of the
Cameron Rd. turnoff off of highway 58, and
[Loc. D]
2nd Locality - near Cameron Rd turnoff
from Hwy 58.
(71 Traps at 1st locality, 74 at 2nd locality)

6:30 arose and drove up from camp
to check traps. The captured animals
at 2nd locality were under heavy
attack by large ants.
