Journal April - 9.5 mi. N. Johannesburg, off Trona Rd. (Camp #1) San Bernardino Co. Calif. 3200' on ice for David's stomach analysis work. All live Dipodomys were brought back for behavioral studies. Many varieties of annuals were in bloom and the dominant shrubs showed much growth and blooming. High temp approx 75° F low 40° F. 17 Apr. - 9.5 mi. N. Johannesburg - 2 mi. E of Trona road (new camp) San Bernardino Co 3200' (elev.) Drove East off of Trona Rd. and past near base of colorful ore deposits in hills to SE of old Campsite #1. In several locations, the ground had been bulldozed and pools of (stagnant) water were left - The water was apparently there year round and no water life could be seen. We then followed a road north down into the lower valley where we struck out [illegible] to the east toward a thin stand of Joshua trees (Yucca).
