Big Tujunga Canyon, approx. 10 mi NE of Sunland
near tree farm on hill to right of road past big
bridge ¼ mi. (new road marker "7.43") L.A. Co., Calif. 2200'
2:00 PM - My dog, "Barron", and I set 82 live traps
in this area where John and I had previously
caught Dipodomys, Neotoma, Microtus, and
Peromyscus. Warm afternoon, cool night (~50°)
17 Jan - Big Tujunga Canyon (as above).
4:00 AM Checked traps set out last night with
following results:
3 Dipodomys agilis agilis
1 Perithodromys megalotis longicauda
All animals were caught in center of
the relatively sparsely covered area N of
the large pines. Holes were not covered
generally and were found in small
clearings and not necessarily near bush bases.
