Hefer .ms. 1973 Journal 7 Dec. - Campsite #1, 9.5 mi. N. Johannesburg, off of Johannesburg Rd., San Bernardino Co, 3200' Calif. Arrived at camp 9:00 pm and set 100 traps as before (see 14 Oct '73). Full moon, still, 30-35° F. 8 Dec. - Campsite #1, 9.5 mi. N. Johannesburg, off Johannesburg Rd., San Bernardino Co, 3200' Calif. 5:00 AM - Checked traps and released animals. Results: 10 Dipodomys merriami 2 Dipodomys panamintinus and 4 Perognathus longimembris 2 P. formosus 18/100 = 18% 8:30 pm. - Checked traps again with following results: 5 D. panamintinus 4 D. merriami 1 P. longimembris 1(2) Ammospermophilus leucurus Today was very bright, 65° F, still, and few high clouds. We noticed for the 1st time much young green vegetation sprouting all over the desert floor (Some dicots and some single grass shoots) left for home 12:00 noon.
