Hefner, Ms. 1973 Journal 25 Nov.-"Campsite #1," 9.5 mi. N. Johannesburg, Rt. off Troya Johannesburg Rd., San Bernardino Co., 3200 Caly. Set traps yesterday afternoon in groups of 20, at roughly even intervals between Campsite #1 and the intersection of Johannesburg road and the highway between Ridgecrest and Troya. This gave a representative trapping of both the Larrea dominant community and the Atriplex dominant community. (and intervals in between). As mentioned above, it rained for 1/2 hours last evening which might explain the poor results: 5 Dipodomys merriami 2 Ammospermophilus leucurus The Dipo's were caught in the Larrea community, though there was Dipso. evidence in both communities. One squirrel was caught in each community - at the two extremes of the trapping area.
