Hynes, m.s. 1973 Journal off road to Cuddleback Lake, 5 miles east of Atolia, 8 mi. SE of Johannesburg, 3200' San Bernardino Co. Calif. We arrived here late last night. Full moon, light breeze, approx. 50°F. Set traps at various distances along road to lake in sets of 10. Used live (partially smashed) crickets, peanut butter and grain for bait. 60 traps set. 10 Nov. - off road to Cuddleback Lake, 5 mi. east of Atolia, 8 mi SE of Johannesburg, 3200' San Bernardino Co. Calif. 6:30 AM- Checked traps - fairly nice morning light breeze 55-60°F. Results: 6 D. merriami trapping success 1 D. panamintinus 9/60 = 15% 1 P. longimembris Habitat was Larea, 20' apart, soft sand, much quartz rock. 9:00 AM drove to dry lake and then continued on road SE towards Hwy 58. Noted Indian petroglyphs on rocks along way - much motorcycle activity. Warm, clear day. 75-80°F. Immospermophilus leucurus sites along way. 4:00 Stopped by road approx. 10 miles before
