Squirrel) Sept 1 - On Aug 27 I saw 2 of these animals feeding in chinquapins along the road just north of Camp, in what I call Wried Forest (Journal p. 158). late the same day (4:30 a.m.) while coming down The Waterman Ridge (Cedar Creek Trail) above camp, one fine big animal came bounding across the needle and branch litter under a stand of douglas firs without undergrowth, leaped onto the trunk of a nearly fair and quickly climbed to the top, then it ran from tree to tree crossing by interlacing branches. On Aug 31 I am seen in the Broad Bottom (Journal p. 165) near N of Willimi Creek where this animal was again working through the trees by jumping from limb to limb.
