Bulloni 1749 Rhyacotision olympicus Rhyacotiston -1- Aug 14 Big lagoon 250 feet, Humboldt Co., Calif. - d took light larvae out of the section of a stream below the Hammond lumber Company road going directly up from the Big Lagoon shops. At this stream is in the redwood belt. It drops about 90 feet for every 100 feet run- temperature was 13°C (55°F). R-Water clear, and in the area worked there was a thin coat of mud on the bottom. As I approached each pool the larvae present all scooped around seeking cover. Most of them were satisfied to have just their heads covered with mud- the rest of the body being left exposed. Several large larvae were seen that I was not able to catch- they all headed for deep water when I approached. -sees also-following page.
