Gullon 1949 found. 191 8th 11 Trinity and Tehama Co., Calif. Seal (Smilacina sp?) and Cornus canadensis on the ground. Coming out of that stream area we left the moist forest behind and started into the foothill-valley flora consisting of various chaparral species, mostly Chamise, with Digger Pines scattered around. In the Beegum area & saw two Say Phoebes, at least 2 Lewis Woodpeckers and 4 American Capercaillie. On east from Beegum the chaparral dropped out and the rolling hills are covered with grass with a few Digger Pines and Blue Oaks for trees. On most moist of north side slopes a Manzanita, Coffee-berry, Rhus trilobata and a rose are found. Along Cotton Dry Creek are Black Cotton- woods, and various species of Salix. A flat tire halted progress along Dry Creek. In this hot open stream valley are lots of Lewis and Acorn Woodpeckers, Turkey Vultures, a Red-Tailed Hawk, Say Phoebe, White- -breasted Nuttall's, Scrub Jay, American Goldfinches, Lazuli Bunting, Loggerhead Shrike, Plain Titmouse, Nuttall Woodpecker, Mourning Dove, Flicker, / Sceloporus. gracilis.
