Sept 1 3 mi, N Willow Creek, 100 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif.
a Red-tailed Hawk gliding westward
over the ridge W of the summit of
Brannan Mtn.
Sept 2 Same locality - Stayed in camp and skinned
all morning. Collected a Diampetador
eating a Thamnohirs elegans at noon and
planned on going to Brannan Mtn tonight
for an evening of Trapping and hunting with
Coggswell but Murray carried the truck
keys with him when he left so we were
not able to go.
Sept 3 Same locality - Went out to the Patterson Ranch
(see next page) and hunted. Collected a
Savannah Sparrow from a group of a dozen
or so in a Corn-field, then collected a
Mourning Dove just S of his ranch along
a Mazzinta - Madrone thicket. Saw
both a Sparrow and Sharp-shinned Hawk
on the Patterson Ranch, and flushed a
Cooper Hawk when I shot the Dove. Went
on down to the bridge and turned up the
Campbell Ridge Road going SE from the
bridge. Saw a Mountain Quail, heard
a Black-throated Gray Warbler and
saw 8 Turkey Vultures circling low.
Returned to camp and skinned the two
birds. Left camp about 3:15 p.m. for a
