July 1949 Journal 168 Aug 31 3mi N. Willow Creek, 700 ft., Humboldt Co., Cal - Funded 24-26 Yellow Warbler from Oregon patch. berry tangles. Also numerous Goldfinches in the area. Robins were also feeding in Blackberries. Saw a Swainson's Thrush. About 11:20 a.m. a flock of about 20 Waxwings came into feed, I collected an immature from the flock. 2 Wood Peewees were feeding in the area. Cogwell finally got to a Gray Squirrel was seen working along the river bank, from tree to tree. Saw 3 Green-winged Teal on the Trinity River and several Ground Squirrels (all small) and 1 junco just N of the Lazy G Ranch. Talked to some PG+E linemen about reptiles. They reported killing a Rattlesnake near a sawmill a couple of miles W of the Brizzard Store in Willow Creek just a few days ago. They said also that last year Rattlers were often encountered along their power line from Willow Creek to Salger, but that they have not seen many this year. They reported having seen a Black + White Banded King Snake on the highway S of Willow Creek last week, and that both King Snakes and
