Aug 17 Big Lagoon, Humboldt Co. Calif -
The Nedge of the sedge on the island
To and across the New Mouth. Onto
mud flats there were 2 Baird Sandpipers
with Western Sandpipers and Semipalmated
Plovers. I tried to collect one bairdi
but failed, they flew across the mouth
and I went back after them, fired
again but missed, they flew back
E across the mouth again this time
disappearing into the fog. Then 1
flew out from almost under foot,
it crossed the mouth, I followed and
finally collected it using a full load
of #10 and 2-1/2 loads. Then I returned
directly to camp to skin the day
bag.
Aug 18 - same locality - Stayed in camp all day today
finishing my shinning and getting the
final touches on my notebook fixed
up. We are planning on moving tomorrow.
