Fallion 1949 Journal -135- Aug 17 Big Lagoon, Humboldt Co. Calif - The Nedge of the sedge on the island To and across the New Mouth. Onto mud flats there were 2 Baird Sandpipers with Western Sandpipers and Semipalmated Plovers. I tried to collect one bairdi but failed, they flew across the mouth and I went back after them, fired again but missed, they flew back E across the mouth again this time disappearing into the fog. Then 1 flew out from almost under foot, it crossed the mouth, I followed and finally collected it using a full load of #10 and 2-1/2 loads. Then I returned directly to camp to skin the day bag. Aug 18 - same locality - Stayed in camp all day today finishing my shinning and getting the final touches on my notebook fixed up. We are planning on moving tomorrow.
