Kullori 1949 Journal -133- Aug 17 Big Lagoon, Humboldt Co., Calif. heard, saw and fried on one Virginia Rail in a Cares thicket just W of the New Month of Maple Creek. Collected a Western Sand piper on the mud flats just a little further W from a patch of westerns and Geats. Worked on over to the Old Month, scaing up several hundred Pintails and several Mallards. Worked S across the Wend of the Cross Channel to the Send of Long Pond, on over-to the W side of the duck pond. Many Pintails took off from there, and Mallards with "blue-winged" (probably Cinnamon) Teal passed overhead. A Pied-billed Grebe was on the pond and rails were calling all around. Collected one Virginia Rail, fired at but missed another Virginia Rail. Worked down to the SW corners of the same pond where I fried at but missed another Sora , then collected another Virginia Rail and [illegible] nearly collected an American Bittern at the same time.
