Victoria one drops off the a lava outflow of the Sierra and then winds through the coastal plain into Thorn forest before reaching Galeana Canyon. At Galeana Canyon we rise briefly through the canyon to hit tropical deciduous forest. The road to Gomez Frias rises rather steeply & the town itself is situated on a narrow ridge paralleling the Sierra. It is a beautiful, lush town with friendly people. 1 May Arose about 7:00 PM with a feeling of anxiety about at least getting dressed before the bulk of the population were about their business - earlier, about 5:00 PM, some of the local young men met below our street light to avoid being picked up for work, and while they waited they sharpened their machetes causing us some mild anxiety. Starting walking the road to Rancho del Cielo but got picked up by a truck going to a forest cutting on the way. On an interim walk along the way at the place marked by an A on the map, we saw a Padre Coral Snake in the park: Sam bagged it. We got off on the Rancho del Cielo road when our side turned off near the place
