Drove back into Brownsville to call
Sanborn's again, only to learn that the plates
had not come in as yet. Then went shopping
for some supplies & checked into a Motel 6
for the night to try to recoup some of last
night's losses.
30 April
Got up at the leisurely hour of 9:30 AM and
went down for breakfast in the motel cafe. After
breakfast drove we town for some shot at Whitman's.
They had none but Sam brought a hat and
Philp brought a pang fatigues.
Called Sanborn's & discovered that the plates
had arrived so we went by to pick them up
and be on our way. The plates look suspiciously
like the old MVZ plates, but anything will do.
Did a quick grocery shop & then crossed the
border at Matamoros without a hitch.
Headed South on Mex. Hwy 101 after
a little difficulty getting out of Matamoras.
Drove all the way to Ciudad Victoria on
one tank of gas - just over 200 miles on one
tank. Picked up Mex. Hwy 85 south to
then turned off to Gomez Frias where we
camped at the end of the main road --
across from the house of Senor Timothy
Alvarrez -- or at least that is the consensus
of the group about what he said his name was.
