"in a large tree near the 'driveway.' Masticophis taeniatus : I saw one between at the edge of the acacias and the road. About 2 1/2 feet in length. Reddish rust color on the head, light olive green ground color and two longitudinal light stripes. Drove into Brownsville and called around to the car rental agencies, to get their prices for vehicles in Mexico. Later called Alice who said the plates for the vehicle had been sent to Sanborn's NRA registered animal species agency. Now all we have to do is wait and hope the plate actually gets here in time to do us any good. Is this the end of the problems or another chapter. Left Brownsville driving east on Texas Hwy 48 and stopped at a spot on the north side of the road miles west of the junction of Hwy 48 & on Hwy 48. The locality is a raised hummock area in the middle of a low, flat area behind the sea front. Saw a Cnemidophorus sp. & Sceloporus species. Also saw several Gopherus berlandieri
