22-23 July 24 July Continued north at 150 m.p.h. through some really heavy thunderstorm, stopped at about 2:00 am at a point about 20 miles south of Nogales, Az. The night overcast but no rain was seen except for a few fine drizzle. 3 July Awoke to overcast but clearing stars. Had coffee and then headed north to Nogales, Ariz. where we took breakfast and got our permit checked out. Drove north to Tucson & dropped in at Jan's house. Stayed there all afternoon and early evening & after dinner left for Los Angeles. 24 July Drove all night through the desert of western Arizona & 8:15, Calif. and arrived at John Wright's home at h.a. about 8:30 am. Napped then till about 2:00 pm and then headed north for Berkeley. Had a blazing hot drive through the Central Valley and arrived in Berkeley very tired about 10:30 am.
